Lux Aeterna
This project has been a material study. The material was a luminescent pigment called strontium aluminate and my goal was to figure out how it could be used in contemporary furniture design. The project was meant to allow me to test and experiment quite freely. A function follows form approach as I like to call it. I started to think about the functions that the experiments have provided for me. I found practical uses such as highlighting the contour of a furniture. Providing knowledge of where one could walk in a dark room. As the project progressed and I learned more of the material through countless failures, I realized that light follows form, form follows lack of light. That light provides the ability to see the form and lack of light will change the form.
