Delicacy for living: a poetic journey through marquetry craft<\/h2>\n

How can I re-actualise the decorative marquetry craft toward multi-sensorial experiences in furniture\/object?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this project, I challenged the wooden marquetry craft\u2019s tactile and\u00a0aesthetic experience*<\/strong>\u00a0qualities. Named after wavy cloud formations, the\u00a0\u2018Undulatus\u2019\u00a0<\/em>low\u00a0<\/em>cabinet acts as a\u00a0reminder to stimulate our mind and senses at home<\/strong>\u00a0while encouraging us to take meditative breaks.<\/strong>\u00a0To do so, its handcrafted volumic marquetry\u00a0invites tactile interactions\u00a0<\/strong>allowing the imagination to wander freely. Like a loyal companion, the cabinet purpose is to contain and hide from others personal items such as treasure boxes or memories. The user can then sit next to it on the floor or place the cabinet on low furniture to interact with it.<\/p>\n

*<\/strong>aesthetic experience: high cognitive engagement triggering fascination, emotional unity with objects, and focused attention.<\/p>\n

Finally, two frames showcase how I use\u00a0<\/strong>Nature as an\u00a0inexhaustible source of inspiration<\/strong>\u00a0for my designs and process. Similar to\u00a0\u2018butterfly cabinets\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0\u2018scientific collecting\u2019<\/em>, they display samples collected in the forest that inspired me to abstract\u00a0patterns and volumes for experiments and the final cabinet.<\/p>\n
